Blogging from Paradise: How to Build an Online Empire through Blog Commenting Book Review

If I had told you that someone could write an 80 page e-Book just on blog commenting, you’d probably look at me like I was crazy. Blog commenting, really? It’s something that seemed so simple. Something so small, it’s often overlooked.

However, this book opens your eyes as to how large of an impact blog commenting can actually have. Here is my review for Blogging From Paradise: How To Build an Online Empire through Blog Commenting, by Ryan Biddulph.

Before I actually begin talking about the book itself, I’d first like to talk about the author. For those who aren’t already familiar with him, Ryan Biddulph is the owner of the BloggingFromParadise.com. Ryan travels the world with his fiancée Kelli, living off of the income his blog and other assets has produced for them. His story is a remarkable one, and his website aims to aid you in achieving a similar level of success should you wish to do so.Commentingebookcover

Having been a  reader of Blogging From Paradise for a while now, I had  a certain expectation of greatness when I began reading the book. Let me tell you – I was not disappointed.

I have always thought that I knew a good bit about blog commenting. It’s one of my main traffic building strategies, and is actually the first technique I suggest in my free traffic building course. By the time I had finished the book, I realized how much room I had to actually improve my blog commenting technique

The book starts out by showing just how undervalued blog commenting is as both a marketing and a networking strategy. Ryan details the benefits of blog commenting and goes on to tie them to personal examples (like how blog commenting led to endorsements from both Chris Brogan and Yaro Starak), proving just how valuable blog commenting can actually be if you do it effectively.

The book then goes on to discuss specific strategies and tactics to make your blog commenting efforts far more effective. While I won’t go into the specific details, I’ll tell you this – the comments you leave after reading this book are going to change drastically. Your new blog comments will result in more clicks to your website, better relationships with other bloggers in your niche, and even save you time. I don’t know about you, but I’m the type of guy that likes to save as much time as possible. After all, time is money.

What I really loved about this book is how personal it felt. As a reader, you’re able to instantly connect with Ryan and his experiences, and the way it’s structured makes it feel like you’re talking to a good friend. Ryan does a good job at keeping the book flowing, while also reinforcing key ideas to ensure you retain and remember them. This makes the book a quick and entertaining read.

For that reason, I consider this book to be a good investment for bloggers looking to grow their business and expand their network. I could go on and on about this book, but I’d much rather you spend your time actually reading it than just reading about it. You can pick up the book up on Amazon using the link below. For $12.97, you’d be a fool not to make the investment into your business. This book will result in more traffic, a larger network, saved time, and ultimately, more money.

In the words of Ryan himself… if you’re blogging without being connected, you’re just publishing a diary!

  1. Hi James,

Ryan and I go back a long time. I’ve been there and followed his blog and when he wrote this book I was elated! Blog comments are the backbone of our blogging business. I just hope more people get this message because one comment on someone’s blog can attract people back to our blog.

I cannot tell you how many times people have come to my blog just from a comment I have made! This is why I too am so passionate about commenting.

If I get a one liner on my blog, either the person is a newbie or they are just there for a selfish reason for a back-link. I’ll let a newbie slide once with a message to them of how important a longer comment is. Because this shows that the person doesn’t care what I wrote and it only reflects laziness on their part. If they try it again, they are banned. he he he

But this book is a must read for every blogger because commenting is so important. And Ryan is one of the greatest pro bloggers I know.

    • Hi Donna!

It’s great to see you again. Blog commenting has always been one of my favorite traffic generation and networking strategies and understandably, I’m always looking to improve my technique. This book really helped. As you said, Ryan is a great guy and really knows his stuff so it’s no surprise this book was awesome.

As far as spam goes, I’d like to think that the people leaving one line comments just honestly don’t know that what they’re doing isn’t really valuable, LOL. Unfortunately this isn’t the case most of the time. The thing is, one really good comment is substantially more valuable than 10 spammy one liners.

You’re a lot more lenient than I am, I usually just hit the spam button without thinking twice about it. I may have to adopt your strategy – I suppose there are honest people that don’t know what they’re doing is wrong :(.

Every time I see one of your comments in my dashboard I get excited because you always add so much value to the post. Thanks again for visiting Donna and I hope to see you again in the future!

  3. Hey James,

I had to stop by and see what you thought about Ryan’s eBook on blog commenting. I haven’t had a chance to dive into that one yet with my busy schedule of late. But I’m sure he’s given all his gold nuggets so that people will once and for all understand the importance of this.

When people ask me how I’ve been able to grow such a large and engaging community, they are surprised to hear that it’s been through blog commenting. So many people undervalue it but I think that’s because they don’t understand or grasp the importance of it. Granted, if you’re going after results just to be seen or the backlinks then you’re of course doing it all wrong and people can see through that. Okay, I can at least so I know a lot of other people can too.

You definitely have to be genuine so I’m glad that you’ve been using this method first off and now with having read how Ryan has applied this that means you’ll only improve upon it and get much better results.

So bravo to you for checking this out and I wish you the very best moving forward. I know you’ll do well, you’ve learned from one of the best.

    • Adrienne that’s such a good point! People undervalue commenting. Well, many people who haven’t followed your smart lead. Instead of sharing to add value they’re sharing to get value. Or they don’t share at all. If you make an impact and see commenting as a bond-building tool, well, you are living, breathing proof of how far blog commenting can take you. Thanks for stopping by to read, and to share, Adrienne!

    • Sorry Adrienne for the slow approval and response, I’ve been very sick so I haven’t been able to get online.

You’re absolutely right, and one thing I really loved about this book is that it really focuses on a lot of the benefits of blog commenting that most people wouldn’t have really thought of or taken the time to consider. It really opens to your eyes as to how valuable blog commenting can be in the long term. Your own community is certainly proof of that!

Good to see you again Adrienne, and thanks!
